Creator of Bodyspace Pilates, Hayley grew up in Sydney, Australia and moved to the UK in 2004. Before moving into bodywork and movement therapy she worked as a Florist and studied sculpture and live performance at university. During this time, Hayley was keen to study anatomy seeking a job in which she would continue to learn, so she studied Remedial Massage Therapy and following moving to the UK, trained in Pilates Matwork, Comprehensive Studio Pilates and Somatic Experiencing. Hayley worked as a massage therapist for 6 years and has been teaching Pilates for 14.
Currently working towards Restorative Exercise Specialist Certification with the Nutritious Movement Institute, following the inspiring work of Katy Bowman, Hayley is keen to share what she is learning with her with clients.
“It is my hope that through the medium of movement, you will learn to listen to your body and recognise your physical and mental needs and be better equipped to relieve pain or discomfort and go about daily life with more flexibility, coordination and strength and a sense of balance in your system as a whole.” Hayley
I was first introduced to Pilates by a ballet teacher I had at college when I was completing my degree in Dance Studies, but did not fully appreciate its potential to enhance people’s lives until it was suggested by my physiotherapist I took it back up again to manage an injury I received following a car accident. I was amazed at how Pilates changed my life; enabling me to stay pain free and active. Following completing my dance training I worked in education for 20 years but have returned to working with movement and love sharing my knowledge with others and seeing the benefits it brings them. When I’m not working I enjoy walking, spending time in my garden and practicing mindfulness.
